Forms

  • Affidavit in lieu of title

If your vehicle has been impounded and you do not have the physical title, you may need to complete an Affidavit in Lieu of Title form to prove ownership. This form is typically required when you're trying to claim or retrieve your vehicle from the tow lot but the title has been lost, stolen, or is otherwise unavailable. It allows the registered owner to legally verify their right to the vehicle in place of presenting the actual title document.

  • Affidavit of Loss/Release of Interest

This form allows a registered owner to legally release their ownership interest in a vehicle that has been impounded, often transferring it to the towing company so the vehicle can be disposed of, auctioned, or salvaged.

Common reasons for using a Release of Interest form include situations where you no longer want the impounded vehicle, cannot afford the towing and storage fees, or the vehicle is totaled, abandoned, or not worth retrieving. This form allows you to legally relinquish ownership so the towing company can dispose of the vehicle according to state regulations.
